This work is timelessly cool. A graduate of COFA in Sydney, Tom Ferson's art practice is based on appropriated images from a time when kitsch was king (they just didn’t know it). As a skilled drawer and painter, Tom forces us to question what our society is based on and who our heroes are. He doesn’t paint the great moments but takes the well-worn images, renders the surface with a surgeons hand and an artist’s eye, twisting the minor things that have helped form western culture. Tom not only makes us laugh, he certainly makes us think. We can tell you that his labour intensive process takes so long we can barely stand the wait till the next board hits the UpRaw space! If you are looking for a statement piece in your collection that will stop people in their tracks… look no further.
