Julian Thompson

Julian is an intense painter who has looked at the world with an intense vision of the landscape – a traditionalist at heart, he has a deep affinity with the power of paint as a medium. These works created especially for UpRaw are drawing on a new vision of the Australian landscape beyond the typical aerial view, examining our beaches from the perspective of satellites that orbit the earth and control so much of our lives. Julian’s expressive and loosely drawn abstractions of Google imagery point to future directions in the way landscape is perceived.
